St. Augustine

After an 8-hour tow to St. Augustine Marine, we arrived late Tuesday afternoon.  Arrangements were made for our friends John and Marny to deliver the spare drive leg we had stored in Jacksonville to us in St. Augustine.  They were waiting on the dock when we arrived and it was great to see their smiling faces!  The four of us went to 'Flavors' for dinner and caught up on the latest happenings.  A 7:30 AM haul out was scheduled for the next day.  The boat was hauled and blocked, then the work began.  The mechanic and I removed the drive leg and installed the spare.  By 2:00 PM the boat was back in the lift slings, we splashed and were underway by 2:30!

We went through the 3:00 PM opening of the Bridge of Lions and motored to Pine Island, one of our favorite anchorages.  Since we made some headway this day, we now knew we'd make it to Fernandina Beach in time for Shrimp Festival, our ultimate goal since leaving the Bahamas!  After anchoring we ate dinner, watched a beautiful sunset and went to sleep. Ah, the peaceful joys of anchoring.
